Not being a religious person, I must confess that religion (used here collectively) confuses me, and quite often frightens me. Mark you, I am not.

So Ahab sent unto all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together unto mount Carmel. And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions?

And the people answered him not a word. Let them therefore give us two bullocks; and let them choose one bullock for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under: and I will dress the other bullock, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under: And call ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of Yahweh: and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God.

And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken.

And Elijah said unto the prophets of Baal, Choose you one bullock for yourselves, and dress it first; for ye are many; and call on the name of your gods, but put no fire under. And they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, hear us.

But there was no voice, nor any that answered. And they leaped upon the altar which was made. And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, Cry aloud: for he is a god; either he is talking, or he is pursuing, or he is in a journey, or peradventure he sleepeth, and must be awaked. And they cried aloud, and cut themselves after their manner with knives and lancets, till the blood gushed out upon them. And it came to pass, when midday was past, and they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that there was neither voice, nor any to answer, nor any that regarded.

And Elijah said unto all the people, Come near unto me. And all the people came near unto him. And he repaired the altar of Yahweh that was broken down. And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, unto whom the word of Yahweh came , saying, Israel shall be thy name: And with the stones he built an altar in the name of Yahweh: and he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed.

And he put the wood in order, and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid him on the wood, and said, Fill four barrels with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice, and on the wood. And he said, Do it the second time.

And they did it the second time. And he said, Do it the third time. And they did it the third time. And the water ran round about the altar; and he filled the trench also with water.

And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, Yahweh God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word. Hear me, O Yahweh, hear me, that this people may know that thou art Yahweh the Most High, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.

Then the fire of Yahweh fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench. And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, Yahweh, he is the God; Yahweh, he is the God. That should have settled the matter once and for all.

There are many many varieties of Baal, and our people follow every one. Or we honour every one, out of political correctness. But there is only one Yahweh, the Most High, and only one Covenant that he entered into with His children, the children of Israel. Be that as it may, the one clear precept that we may take away from that story of Elijah is that the one true God is not impressed by numbers, nor by what is politically correct. The one thing that every true servant of Yahweh could be certain of on that day of prayer, was that no true servant of Yahweh would have participated — Forgive them Father they know not what they do.

But for certain the true servants would have called privately in prayer to the Most High to bless this nation and to grant our new and well-deserved Prime Minister the wisdom and understanding needed to govern this land. There is nothing wrong with communal prayer as such, but it must be undertaken by those of like mind. It is hypocrisy otherwise. As to the Muslims that died at Mecca while engaged in a ritual of stoning Satan, one may infer accordingly as to whether they were servants of the God of Elijah, or of Baal.

I have to agree that it is well to ruminate about God and religion, especially given the many false prophets out there, some knowingly, others unknowingly. But that there is one true God, specifically Yahweh, the God of Israel, there can be no doubt. In the aftermath of the general elections results, there was an an explosion of hate mails on social media. The hate and rants expressed almost entirely by supporters of the UNC. It is not unusual for parties to loose elections.

As a matter of fact, the UNC has lost more elections than any other party in the history of Trinidad and Tobago but this one!

It was different. Why, you may ask was this one so very different than those in the past? It was different because there was so much dishonesty going around in every circle of communications available to the human ear, eyes and perception that the results disappointed expectations. One would have thought that a government rooted in corruption, overspending, racism, neglect, nepotism, ineptitude, incompetence, lies, hatred, undemocratic and lack of meritorious service would be destined to be rejected by the people.

But this government was not one to believe that those qualities shared by a majority of citizens would dare kick it out of office. It nominated a world renowned judge to be president that everyone hailed with acceptance on his inauguration with much hope and pomposity. It had a Chief Justice, with qualifications fitted for that position.

It had a Police Commissioner, bright and educationally qualified top of his class in qualifications. It inherited a Treasury full with oil dollars. In other words, it inherited prosperity without even trying hard to work for it. Yet, with all that going for it, it managed to upset the majority of people in a short space of time by the way it governed. The people of Trinidad and Tobago were ready, willing and able to tell the world that it too had made history by electing its first woman Prime Minister and felt proud to be counted in such high esteem.

It did not take Kamla long to become swell-headed. She was adored by women, she was counseled and heralded by women of all races and organizational affiliations for attaining such a feat. But Kamla disappointed all but her ardent supporters that she was able to do the job. She became careless and arrogant in her approach to governance. She was so arrogant that she decided that as Prime Minister she did not want an Opposition so she elected to fire the Opposition Leader.

    RUMINATIONS ON RUSE AND RELIGION

This my friends, is the height of recklessness and arrogance that marked defeat for this UNC government. Conversely, they were also simultaneous in telling us that Dr. By this time, Kamla was perceived to be in the firm grip of the renowned racist Sat Maharaj. The intent of this cabal was to: 1. Develop the South 2. Spending must be concentrated mostly in the south. Move the Capital city from Port of Spain to Chaguanas.

All security services were to be headed by Indians. Give preference to Indians in hirings for the public service. Faces in the foreign service embassies and consulates must show a higher number of Indians as opposed to Africans. Educational achievements must show greater numbers of Indians in the fields of medicine, Engineering, Sciences Finance and other higher fields of endeavour.

Greater emphasis to be placed on the acceptance of hinduism by all. Perception of the culture must not be seen as Afrocentric but Asian. Government contracts to be given exclusively to Indians. ETc, etc etc etc etc. Point here is that this cabal was meant to govern for a long time and that longevity would persist by changing the constitution to ensure a UNC victory for every election, thereby dominating every aspect of life here in Trinidad and Tobago.
